Silent Killer.

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh :)

Lately something has been playing in my mind. I hope that I can convey something useful with what I'm about to write, insya Allah.
In the world that we currently live in, some of us face difficulties more than others do. Natural disasters, diseases, wars, poverty, starvation and so many more. And alhamdulillah, for some of you who might be reading this right now, we should really be grateful that we are put into a situation in which we could still have something to eat, to be sitting in front of a computer, have a roof over our heads and a car we could drive to go places.

It has been said in the Quran (Surah An-Nahl: Verse 18):

“If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of the world. If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million people who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the agony of imprisonment or torture or the horrible pangs of starvation, you are luckier than 500 million people alive and suffering. If you can read this message, you are more fortunate than 3 billion people in the world who cannot read at all.”

What can we conclude from this?
The fact that we are more fortunate than the others have gotten us to think that it's okay to not do anything in this world. To think that it's alright to just sit around and do nothing while some of the other Muslims out there are fighting for what is right. To have deenillah back to the way it was when the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم used to practice it.

The very least we could do, and I'm saying the very least, is to keep striving for Jannah together while we still have the chance. How? There are lots of ways how. Allah SWT is the All-Knowing. He knows the nature of us as human beings, because He created us. And that is why, the perfect role model for us as Muslims is our beloved Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم
Looking at the situation we are in now, how the world has changed to something completely different than what it used to be, we are the ones who could start making a change. We are the ones who are responsible to start changing!

Let's take a simple example shall we?
Imagine a situation in which we live our everyday lives, doing the same routine every day, every week, every month and every year. And all of a sudden we are given the news that our lives may end soon due to a disease (may Allah forbids, na'uzubillah) and we start discovering that our body may not function as healthily as it used to. Our legs wouldn't move as fast as we'd like them to and our hands would be shaking that even the little things that we used to do, we wouldn't be able to do them anymore. And sooner than anyone of us could think, we'd just be waiting till our lives come to an end at our deathbeds. By then maybe our bodies wouldn't have even the tiniest energy to move. And we could feel our hearts beating slow and if Allah wills it, our soul would be separated from our body and there isn't anything that we could do. No matter how much we try to scream to express just how excruciating the pain is, we couldn't.
Because if it has been written that at that specific time and day that we will face our death, no matter in what form will we  face it, if Allah wills it, no power will be able to stop and prevent it from happening.

Can't we see by now? My sisters and brothers in Islam..
This is the silent killer. The world as it is now, seems to be telling us that it's alright to just relax and have fun while we can. We seemed to be pleased by the fact that our lives are going the way we like them to. But when something goes wrong, we start blaming the things around us. We start to cry and plead for help when the first thing that we should realize is that we are the one to blame.
Our hearts are slowly dying by the little things that we could've actually done to bring us closer to Allah. And when a little drop of dark spot falls into our hearts, it would start increasing until it totally covers our hearts that we don't seem to realize that we are far from our Almighty Creator. We are far from the truth, from His path, siratul-mustaqim. I pray that we all be given guidance and may Allah protect us from going into that state.

The silent killer. We may not know it but our hearts may be dying slowly of the sins that we've done. The sins that we've repeated day after day and by the time we know it, it's time to face our death and there isn't anything we could do to stop it. And it has been repeatedly said in the Qur'an, a picture of what it would be like on the Day of Judgement, the day that we will face our Lord, the Almighty Allah. And with the things that we've done today, what will we present to Him later in the Akhira? Would we be able to please Him with what we have? Would we, as his slaves,  stand a chance to enter His Jannah? These are the things we should continuously ask ourselves. Again and again, every single day.
And they say that a wise man is one who remembers death. Why? Because by remembering death, it pushes us one step closer to do Allah. It avoids us from procrastinating and delaying things that we could do.

If we hear the call of Azan at a specific time of the day, we would be pleased to perform our prayers early and as soon as the Azan ends, because we know, that if we delay it, we may face death knowing that we haven't had the chance to perform our prayers yet. If that time comes, what will we do? Can we go back and turn back time and ask for Allah's forgiveness? And this is why, we should perform each and every one of our prayers like it's our last. We may never know  which of our ibadahs are the ones being accepted by Allah, so continuously practicing good and avoiding the bad. Amar makruf, nahi mungkar.
Push yourself every day, to be better. At first it may only be because we are afraid of Allah's wrath later in the Hereafter, but once we are accustomed to it, we start doing it with our own wills. We start enjoying the little things that would close the distance between us and Allah. The sweetness of imaan :) insya Allah, I pray that we'll all be able to taste it.

My brothers and sisters in Islam, have faith in Allah. From the day we were born until the day that we are given the chance to still live in this world, the one who knows us best is Allah SWT. He has been the one closest to us. The one who knows what lies in our hearts, more than anyone else. He knows.
And for that reason, keep on praying, keep on believing. Never ever give up hope in his rahmah. His kindness exceeds anything in this world. Every good deeds that we've done, insya Allah they would bring us closer to our Creator. So don't give in to what the dunya offers you. It's not worth it. It never was.

The Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم had explained to his Sahabahs رضي الله عنهما the guarantee of entering Jannah if we follow and live our lives based on the Qur'an and the Sunnahs. And the Sahabahs رضي الله عنهما had understood completely till the point that their goal was the Jannah.
So let's try our best to live our lives just the way that the Prophet and his companions used to live. For the brothers, look at the Sirah of the Prophet and his Sahabahs. Try to take them as an example.
And for the sisters, we have amazing and incredible women as our ancestors. We should be very proud to have them as examples. Aisya, Fatimah, Khadijah and Sumayyah رضي الله عنهما are only some of the examples. They are the women that have showed us integrity and the beauty of being Muslim women. The Mujhidahs or Islam.
May we be given strength and guidance to follow their steps, insya Allah.

I hope that this would start sparking some changes in our lives. All that is good comes from Allah and the bad from my own mistakes. I hope that all my weaknesses will be forgiven and please advice me in case there were mistakes made.
.وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى اله وصحبه وسلم, والحمد لله رب العالمين
